INTRODUCTION

Perfect for xeriscaping, rock purslane is a perennial succulent with eye-catching purple flowers that rise above bluish-green foliage. This versatile plant can stay in bloom for over half a year, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Native to Chile, rock purslane is highly drought-tolerant but does not do well with frost.

GENUS MIX-UP

Originally under the Calandrinia genus, rock purslane was later moved to be part of Cistanthe. Recently, more Calandrinia plants, as well as some from related genera, have also been put into the new category. However, since the change was relatively recent, many places still call rock purslane Calandrinia spectabilis.
